Vessel of Expression.
Journey of knowledge and creation.
Space of art creation.
Thoughts from a plain mind.
I’ve always needed a medium of expression. Self-expression.
There are two realms.
The spiritual and physical.
Everything is first manifested in the mind before it is then created in the physical realm.
The need for a vessel of expression.
As we traverse through this human experience, documenting the process is just as important for two reasons. Firstly, it is to share knowledge and creation. We are made to create, after all. Secondly, just for reminiscing and nostalgic purposes. This is one of the reasons why I love photography and cinematography, they capture moments in time that you’ll never get to experience again or may even forget but art enables you to relive them. Art is meant to provoke your emotions and that is the beauty of it. However, besides the point of documenting the journey, creative expression is also meant to be done and pursued just for the sake of fulfillment in creation and not allowing our creative talents go to waste. It would be a shame indeed to ignore our creative side.
Fashion is in and of itself, a vessel of expression. Each piece that you decide to put on your body has a purpose, whether it be work-wear or streetwear, it tells a story, invokes emotions, and sends a message. It is an art. Just like art, fashion is subjective. Just like paintings, every brand and clothing piece paints a unique story on the canvas, just each using different strokes.
The name "Plainmind" comes from the idea that the brand intends to create any thought or idea that comes to mind. The juxtaposition in that concept comes from the fact that I do, to an extent, feel that my mind is plain which translates into the minimalistic DNA of the brand.
Inspired by personal experiences and the world around, my creative expression will run free in Plainmind. Each collection. Each piece. Each photo. Each video. Each song. Everything is curated to tell a story and create a vibe. This is me.
Let's cherish the journey.
Yours truly,
Chan Chira Var

“Making a successful luxury brand in nine years is genius. It’s a feat that I admire and hope to continue building upon with a rich legacy. He revolutionised streetwear and luxury that crosses generations and decades. He showed the world that the underrepresented, the underdogs and Black people, in particular, have brilliant minds and can push and compete equally in the establishment. He inspired hope and brought about change.” - Ibrahim Kamara, Art&Image Director Off-White™
